StockX dropshipping on Shopify: what the rules say and how to price it
Some sneaker stores list sizes they do not hold and buy the pair on StockX after a customer orders. People call it StockX dropshipping. It is retail with a longer delivery time. You buy the pair yourself, you carry the price risk between the sale and the purchase, and you owe the customer the delivery you promised.

Is StockX dropshipping allowed?
StockX is not your supplier in this model. It does not ship to your customer under your name. You buy as a StockX buyer, the pair comes to you, and you send it on. So the first rule set is the StockX terms for buyers in your country.
We found no StockX statement that allows this practice and none that forbids it. That is not a yes. Read the StockX terms before you build a store on it. This article is about buying by hand. Software that places orders for you is a different matter, and marketplace terms address it.
Dropshipping from StockX to eBay
Not on eBay. eBay's drop shipping policy says that listing an item on eBay and then purchasing the item from another retailer or marketplace that ships directly to your customer is not allowed. On eBay, list the pairs you hold. The eBay page shows how RestocksAIO publishes stock you hold to eBay.
What Shopify and consumer law expect
On your own Shopify store you are the retailer. The delivery time you state must match what happens. Shopify Payments reviews shipping and fulfilment timelines against what a store promises. In the EU and the UK, the customer must see the delivery time before the order.
A pair you buy after the sale travels twice: from the seller to StockX and to you, then from you to your customer. State a delivery time that covers both. This is general information, not legal advice. Check the rules of your country and of your payment provider.
The three risks, in numbers
Price. The ask can rise between your sale and your purchase. Example: you sold at 99.95 when the pair cost 84.16 to buy. An hour later it costs 92.00. Your margin fell by 7.84 before you paid anything else. The control is a price that follows the buy cost often, and a look at the cost before you buy.
Stock. Nobody sells the size any more. The control is to take the size off sale when it has no seller.
Time. Authentication and two shipments take days. The control is an honest delivery time on the product page, and a plan for the order you cannot fill: cancel and refund at once.
Price from what the pair costs you to buy
The StockX ask is not your cost. Your cost is the ask plus the StockX buyer fee plus shipping. Then you add your markup. Example in EUR: ask 62.00 + buyer fee 6.21 + shipping 15.95 = 84.16. With a markup of 18 % the price is 99.31, and with a price ending of .95 it is 99.95.
This is one example. The buyer fee and the shipping come from the quote of your own StockX account, and they differ by account, country and day. Your store and payment costs come off the 99.95 too, so work them into the markup. StockX price sync does this arithmetic for each size.
How RestocksAIO handles on-demand (dropship) sizes
In the app, a size your Shopify store sells before you hold it is an on-demand size. You set it up in Shopify, and RestocksAIO reads it. A Price sync rule follows the StockX buy cost with your markup. It reads StockX every 5 minutes by default while the app is open. A size with no seller can go sold out on the store, and the product stays up.
When an on-demand size sells, a card in Review shows the buy cost at the sale and the buy cost now. The app does not buy. You open StockX, buy the pair, and record what you paid with Mark bought. If the cost no longer works, Cancel order opens the order on your store. On-demand sizes work on Shopify only, and they are included in Premium. The Shopify page has the details.
